The floral industry is actually far from green what with so much waste, use of plastics, and transportation across the globe. Did you know the vast majority of flowers used in the industry are not grown in the US? The carbon footprint is enormous.
Our flowers are grown here from seed and tended to with love. We don’t use harsh pesticides and they are always freshly harvested. The flowers you see in grocery stores are most often shipped from thousands of miles away, grown on farms of massive scale who use all kinds of chemicals, and often have fragrance bred out of them. These differences in sourcing and growing really impact the overall flower quality. Think of it this way: it’s like the difference between a pale, watery, mass produced grocery store tomato and a rich, juicy, locally grown heirloom – there’s just no comparison.
